The USB dongles sold for BD players and TV's are a ripoff. They are proprietary and generally only work with 1 year's worth of components, making them useless if you upgrade in the future. I discovered this product while searching for an alternative.I own three of these Netgear devices. Two of them I purchased new at local big box stores and the third one was ordered refurbished from Dealville through Amazon. The only difference I found with the refurbished one is that the serial numbers have been blacked out and I don't believe it came with the sticky pads you can use to mount these somewhere out of the way. I bought the refurbished one as these devices have no moving parts so they generally either work or don't work and there aren't any motors or moving parts in them to go bad. I received the adapter in plain cardboard packaging with a netgear logo on it. It came with an ethernet cable, wall power adapter, USB power adapter, a small strip of velcro, and a single instruction sheet. The adapter looked to be in new condition except that the serial number on the back of it had been blacked out (most likely at the factory where it was refurbished in order to keep it from being sold as new). The wireless router as usual was in another room and running cable proved to be too expensive and difficult. I only wish the wireless router had a little better range but that has nothing to do with this product. In all I recommend this product if your trying to avoid running cables to your home theater, Xbox, Wii or PS3 (or PC). Feel free to ask questions. |
