4.0 out of 5 stars Ceton PCIe vs. HD Homerun Prime vs. Ceton USB, December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB - 4-channel External Cable TV Tuner Device for CableCARD (Personal Computers)
The Ceton USB tuner is the last of 3 different CableCard tuners I have set up. I own a PCIe Ceton card, the HD Homerun Prime 6 tuner unit and the Ceton USB. (Yes, that is 14 HD cable streams!!) In short the PCIe is the hands down king of CableCard tuners, the HD Homerun Prime has tuner pooling, and the Ceton USB is pulling up the rear.

The Ceton PCIe unit has been by far the easiest set up, most stable and the best card of the three. It has never had a glitch, it was set up and running in no time, the cable company techs had very little difficulty getting it going and it has never ever shown so much as a single pixel of picture faults. No "tiling" and no slow downs. No over demands on the computer. The only cons with the Ceton PCIe card are the heat inside the box and the lack of tuner pooling. Until I could get the other tuners up and running I was sharing the PCIe tuner with two other PCs running Media Center which worked flawlessly on a wired network. However, without... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Ceton Infinitv 4 USB is Awesome..........., October 25, 2011
This review is from: Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB - 4-channel External Cable TV Tuner Device for CableCARD (Personal Computers)
I purchased the Ceton Infinitv 4 USB as soon as it was released. Set up with Windows Media Center was very easy. Bit of advice, download the latest drivers from Ceton's Support site prior to installation. I had a couple of problems and Ceton's support was quick to answer my questions. The problems were not with the device, but rather the user. Activating the cable card with my cable company Comcast was difficult. It took three days to actually get it working correctly. The problem was not with the device, but rather the cable company. They had to make sure the Cablecard was in their inventory as a one-way card then they actually had to activate as a one-way instead of a two-way card. Once they had it activated it worked flawlessly. I am running Windows 7 with 3ghz processor and 8gb of ram and have no problem recording up to 4 shows and watching tv through 3 xbox media extenders at once. This device works great and now my wife is no longer bugging me to buy 3 tivo's with lifetime... Read more

This product works like they said it does. Had to call Comcast twice to pair the cablecard, second time worked. They had left the data number off the first time. Can now watch TV and record 3 programs at once. Quality of the picture is as good or better than with Comcast's DVR. Great product.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!, April 18, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BD77 Ultra-Fast Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
This player, and all 2012 model year Panasonic players, contain Cinavia copy protection embedded in the player. The player will forbid you from playing certain discs and movie files, even if legally obtained and owned. During playback, it checks for the Cinavia watermark and if found on the disc, USB drive, or network file, it will mute the audio and pop up with a message saying you do not have the right to play back this protected content.

Do not buy a Blu-Ray player that contains Cinavia content protection system. Check out the Wikipedia entry for Cinavia for more information on the system and a list of discs and films that embed this watermark.

2.0 out of 5 stars Swing and a miss by Panasonic, April 7, 2012

This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BD77 Ultra-Fast Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
Panasonic DMP-BD77 Ultra-Fast Booting Blu-ray Disc Player

I own literally a house-full of Panasonic Video Equipment, one 65-inch plasma, one 55-inch plasma, two different Panasonic Blu-Ray video players. I was a little shocked by my recent purchase of the Panasonic DMP-BD-77 Blu-Ray Player.

Bottom line: the motor in this player is loud, really loud. It sounds exactly like a cheap CD-ROM drive in a desktop computer. I guess that is how Panasonic makes this player "Ultra-Fast Booting" by spinning the disc at a super-high speed. This sound the player makes is very distracting. There are several issues here.....

To be fair, the high-speed "shifting" noise occurs when the Blu-Ray disc is being read, searched or when skipping between chapters. When running at "normal" speed while watching your... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid this player, April 10, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic DMP-BD77 Ultra-Fast Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
This player is designed to catch you, and it caught me. This player has no built in Wi-Fi. This is a problem. BD players have to connect to the NET, to update, otherwise it will get out of date and stop playing discs with updated HDCP codes.

It has a USB port for a wireless LAN, but the catch is it will not work with an off the shelf unit like one from Linksys or Netgear. It will only work with the Panasonic DY-WL5. This is $49 and almost impossible to find. I think I have found one at Percy's. I hope it arrives.

Unless you can direct wire an Ethernet connection to your router from this unit, you must add $49 to the cost of this player.

The next issue is the menu. It comes up on the TV screen every time you start the player, and the settings are easily changed inadvertently. I bought this unit for an area to be used by my grandchildren, but this assinine piece of design makes that unwise.

The player makes a loud wine loading the... Read more

They do what they are supposed to. Works great. I charge them plugged into my 3D Vizio TV's USB ports, but you can also charge via your wall socket too. Pretty comfy, not sure I could wear them for longer than 1 movie though. Check around on the pricing. Usually you can find elsewhere for around $148 for 2 pairs. :)

i'd like to clarify that it was not the shippers fault i wasted over a hundred dollars for 3d glasses I couldnt use. I should have checked with vizio to see if shutter glasses would work with a 32" 3d television. They will not and only work on 50" and larger screen 3d tv's from vizio.I did give them to a friend who has a bigger screen tv and they work fine for him. so always check before ordering.VIZIO VSG102 Full HD 3D Rechargeable Glasses, Black (2 Pack)

C'mon people! It's true color 3D 1080p HDTV right in your home!
I find these glasses wearable, workable, and easy to use.
If you're looking for a fashion statement, or the most comfortable eyewear made, then you're not ready for 3D HDTV. Maybe you could adorn your glass frames with your own design or smiley face stickers...maybe you could buy some of those foam eyeglass nose pad stick on thingees for your comfort. Until Foster Grant makes Vizio-compatible shutter glasses, this is your only choice...so ENJOY!
